2020-2021 MHS Choir Auditions

Thank you for your interest in auditioning to be a part of Midway High School Choir! We look forward to hearing you sing and joining us next year! Below you will find details based on what grade you are GOING INTO. Additionally, if you ever have any questions or would like some help preparing for your audition please do not hesitate to contact any of the the directors.

Incoming 9th Grade

First, you will need to sign-up for choir on your course registration form. Second, all students need to fill out the Audition Form found HERE. Finally, auditions for Select Choirs will be virtually taking place soon. See below for audition details, guided rehearsal tracks, and music. Audition submission details will be posted soon. During the audition you will be asked to:
1) Sing the Star Spangled Banner acappella (without accompaniment). Click the links below for music and practice tracks.

Soprano:   Music / Practice Track
Alto:           Music / Practice Track
Tenor:        Music / Practice Track
Bass:          Music / Practice Track

2) Sight Read an 8 measure unison line.  Choose one of the lines in your voice part found HERE.

Audition Submissions are NOW OPEN!

Before you record your audition, please watch the above tip videos and the audition examples. Make sure you are using the Audition Audio Tracks while you are recording your audition.

Auditions will be turned in via Schoology as an assignment. Assignments are posted in your current Choir Class on Schoology. 


If you are not currently enrolled in choir and would like to audition, please email one of the directors for further instructions on how to submit your audition. ​

1) Sing your voice part to The Lord Bless You and Keep You. Music can be found HERE. Practice recordings can be found HERE.
​2) Sing the Star Spangled Banner acappella (without accompaniment).  Click the links below for music and practice tracks.

Tenor:        Music / Practice Track
Bass:          Music / Practice Track
3) Sing 4 scales. Major, Natural Minor, Harmonic Minor, and Melodic Minor. Scales are HERE.
4) Sight Read an 8 measure unison line. Examples for practice may be found HERE. This part of the audition will be submitted as a class assignment in Sight Reading Factory. www.sightreadingfactory.com

Chamber Singer Audition
Chamber Singer auditions will be announced soon. Complete all the requirements above to audition for Meistersingers. In order to be selected for Chamber Singers, you must make Meistersingers and have chosen Chamber Singers as a 2nd choir class.

If You Are New To Midway...

If you are coming to Midway from another school district the same audition material still applies. However, your audition will be at some point after you officially register with Midway ISD. We are happy to answer any questions you may have or help you prepare for your audition. Welcome to Midway!
